Someone hire me, please!

I've been on the prowl for a job for so long that I feel like I'm coming off desperate in my cover letters-- not good! Today I applied for a tattoo shop position and can only imagine what they thought (if anyone actually read my letter/resume).

Can anyone recommend places to look for jobs in NYC? I feel like I've left no stones unturned, but I'm always open to advice: )
